1 INFORMATION ABOUT TRAVELLING TO NEPAL
The Government of Nepal has issued the following travel advisory for incoming and outbound passengers:
REQUIREMENTS FOR A TOURIST VISA (For passport holders, other than Travel Documents)
The following are the requirements for a tourist visa: ▪ Duly filled out the Online Visa application form.
▪ Passport and its copies (bio-page and other relevant pages, if any). Please note that the passport should be valid for at least six months from entry into Nepal and should have at least two empty pages). ▪ Copy of Residence Permit (Titre de Séjour) or French visa if the applicant is not a French national. ▪ If the applicant is a resident of France and applying by post, a postage-paid selfaddressed envelope to return the passport. ▪ Visa fee: French nationals and residents of France can pay visa fees in cash or by cheque. VISA ON ARRIVAL: Most travellers, other than the holders of Travel Documents, are able to obtain a tourist visa on arrival from Immigration Offices located at the following entry points in Nepal: International Airports * Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu * Gautam Buddha International Airport, Lumbini * Pokhara International Airport, Kaski Nepal-India Borders * Kakarvitta (Mechi) * Biratnagar (Morang) * Birganj (Parsa) * Belahia (Bhairahwa) * Bhairahawa (Rupandehi) * Jamunaha (Banke) * Mohana (Kailali) * Gaddhachauki (Mahendranagar) Nepal-Tibet (China) Borders * Rawuwagadhi (Rasuwa) * Kodari (Sindhupalchowk) * Hilsa (Humla) NO VISA ON ARRIVAL: Applicants who are citizens of Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and Palestine are required to obtain a visa in advance from a Nepali diplomatic mission before departing to Nepal. 2 REQUIREMENTS FOR A TOURIST VISA (For the holders of Travel Document) The following are the requirements for a tourist visa for the applicants holding Travel Documents: ▪ Duly filled out the Online Visa application form. ▪ Travel Document and its copies (bio-page and other relevant pages, if any). (Please note that the Travel Document should be valid for at least six months from the entry into Nepal and should have at least two empty pages). ▪ Copy of Residence Permit. ▪ A salary certificate issued by the employer. ▪ Confirmation of the hotel reservation or a signed sponsorship letter if the accommodation is provided by the sponsor. A copy of the Nepali citizenship certificate and full mailing address including the sponsor's mobile number and email address is required. ▪ Visa fee (in cash) (Please note that the applicant holding a Travel Document must apply at the Embassy in person.) PROCESSING TIME: It takes five working days to issue a visa. However, in case of urgency, the Embassy may issue a visa on a priority basis if proof of such urgency is submitted. VISA FEES: The following visa fees will be applicable until 3 September 2022: Duration Entry/Type Fee in Euro 15 days Multiple Entry € 30.00 30 days Multiple Entry € 50.00 90 days Multiple Entry € 125.00 The visa is valid for six months from the date of issue. The applicant should enter Nepal within six months from the visa issue date. The actual duration of stay (15 days, 30 days, and 90 days) will be calculated from the date of Nepal"s arrival date. The visa fee is not refundable: Once the visa is issued, the fee will not be refunded. GRATIS VISA A tourist visa is issued free of charge to the following applicants: ▪ Children below 10 years except for US citizens; ▪ Foreign nationals of Nepali origin who hold NRN cards. ▪ Citizens of the People"s Republic of China. ▪ Visa for up to 30 days for the citizens of SAARC countries (except Afghan nationals) if visiting Nepal for the first time in the current year. Afghan citizens are eligible for a gratis visa on arrival only at the recommendation of the Department of Immigration of Nepal. A Nepali agency inviting an Afghan national is 3 required to complete the necessary paperwork for its client in coordination with the Department of Immigration of Nepal. Extension of tourist visa: A tourist visa can be extended from the Department of Immigration, Kathmandu, and Immigration Office, Pokhara for a total of 120 days. An additional 30 days visa may be granted by the Department if it is satisfied with the reason furnished by the applicant for further extension. As a tourist, one cannot stay in Nepal for more than 150 days in a year. DIPLOMATIC AND OFFICIAL VISAS: The diplomatic and official visa shall be issued for 30 days. The duration of the visa can be extended, if required, from the Department of Consular Services, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kathmandu at the request of the foreign mission concerned. REQUIREMENTS FOR DIPLOMATIC AND OFFICIAL VISAS: ▪ Duly filled out the online visa application form. ▪ Diplomatic/official passport and its copies (bio-page and other relevant pages, if any). Please note that the passport should be valid for at least six months from entry into Nepal and should have at least two empty pages). ▪ A note verbale from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the foreign mission concerned requesting a visa. The note must state the purpose and the duration of the visit. VISA EXEMPTION FOR HOLDERS OF DIPLOMATIC, OFFICIAL, OR SERVICE PASSPORTS: Holders of Diplomatic and Official or Service Passport of the following countries are exempted from the visa requirement to enter, stay in Nepal up to 90 days, and transit through Nepal: Thailand Russian Federation People"s Republic of China Brazil Myanmar Vietnam Cambodia Mongolia Jordan State of Israel Georgia State of Qatar For further information regarding visas please send an email to nepalinparis@noos.fr ***** Embassy of Nepal Paris.
